County (Republic of China)County (Taiwan) - I propose to rename this article to fit into other articles about Taiwan.C. 22468 Talk to me 19:36, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - should probably follow same outcome as this request.--Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 16:24, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Other than counties covering geographic areas, this is an article dealing solely with the government and administration of the Republic of China, and should use that name—Kinmen and Lienchiang Counties predated the ROC regaining control of Taiwan. Any elementary misconceptions on the ROC are addressed smack dab in the first sentence, and it is most likely that a reader would have arrived at this article from another article that explains clearly what the ROC is. GotR Talk 19:59, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Article is about geopolitical subdivisions. Hence, should be "Taiwan", per main article. No convincing reasons given for exemptions here. It's focused on the modern divisions. The fact that a couple of them might have the same or similar scope as they did when the ROC had wider authority is neither here nor there. N-HH talk/edits 20:47, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support There is no connection to the pre-1945 China divisions nor is there likely to be. Readin (talk) 21:19, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Oppose this article covers a period prior to the establishment of the ROC, and the period after the KMT evacuation to Taiwan, and the period inbetween. Clearly a split is needed to cover the period prior to the PRC/ROC split, since the equivalent PRC article also covers the same territory again. There should be three articles on this topic, one for the modern PRC, one for the modern Taiwan, and one for the joint history period -- 70.50.151.36 (talk) 03:34, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't understand your comment. I don't see any mention of pre-1911 information in the article. Also, the split you recomment would have an entire article for 1945 to 1949 but nothing for 1911 to 1945 China. Readin (talk) 04:03, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Our main article is at "Taiwan", the title of this article should correspond. Some may object that two of the counties listed are in Fujian. But I don't think is this is a sufficient reason to use terminology that is quite obscure to the vast majority of readers. Kauffner (talk) 10:38, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per the country article's name and WP:COMMONNAME. Timrollpickering (talk) 19:11, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
